PG travels to US to convince ‘Don Berna’ to testify

Colombian Prosecutor General Mario Iguarán will travel to the U.S. next
Friday to convince extradited demobilized paramilitary warlord ‘Don
Berna’ to testify before Colombian justice via video-conference.

If ‘Don Berna’ agrees, he will continue his collaboration with the ‘Justice and Peace’ law, which gives convicted paramilitary reduced sentences in exchange for their testimonies and reparation of their victims.

Several weeks ago the former paramilitary leader sent a letter to ‘Colombians for Peace’ leader Piedad Córdoba requesting she facilitate his collaboration.  In the same letter ‘Don Berna’ expressed concern that families of extradited paramilitaries, who had confessed to crimes committed in Colombia, were being threatened.
