Peace Commissioner has swine flu

Following Colombian President Alvaro Uribe, the country’s Peace Commissioner, Frank Pearl, contracted the AH1N1 virus, or swine flu,
Colombian health authorities announced on Sunday.

The official started showing symptoms of the illness on Friday. Tests proved Pearl did carry the AH1N1 virus, but according to doctors, Pearl already had the illness under control.

Pearl is the third government official who contracted the virus after Uribe. The President’s security adviser and the director of Aerocivil have also been confirmed to carry the virus. Defense Minister Gabriel Silva Lujan was checked by doctors after showing symptoms of the flu, but was declared healthy.
