‘Paras’ insist families are in danger

Extradited leaders of paramilitary organization AUC insisted
Wednesday their families are at risk if they continue confessing their
crimes.

According to opposition senators Piedad Cordoba and Rodrigo Lara, who visited a number of the AUC heads, the paramilitaries asked their families to be taken to other countries, so they can be safe from threats. For the paramilitary leaders this is crucial for them to be able to confess their crimes, the lawmakers added.

Cordoba and Lara received documents on the AUC’s activity in Colombia, but are not allowed to publicize the content of these documents until the paramiliaties’ families are safe outside Colombia.

Wednesday, Cordoba and Lara visited Salvatore Mancuso, Juan Carlos ‘El Tuso’ Sierra, Rodrigo ‘ Jorge 40’ Tovar
Pupo and Carlos Mario ‘Macaco’ Jimenez. Thursday they are set to visit Diego Fernando ‘Don Berna’ Murillo and Hebert ‘HH’ Veloza.
