Paola Turbay sizzles on the small screen

Former Miss Colombia Paola Turbay’s career is on fire, with the actress set to star in three different U.S. television series in the second half of 2010.

Turbay guest stars in ABC series The Secret Life of the American Teenager where she plays Cindy Lee; a police drama series called The Closer playing Mikki Mendoza; and is set to feature in the second season of Royal Pains, in which she will portray doctor Marissa Caseras.

A few weeks ago the Colombian beauty wrapped up filming Royal Pains, which will go to air in July. In a few days she will return to her Cindy Lee role.

During the short hiatus from filming, Turbay spent time with her family. Last weekend she was in Bogota to lend her star quality to Opnicer, an organization that works with the parents of kids who have cancer.

“My involvement goes beyond giving money or being the image of the foundation. I traveled from Los Angeles to Bogota to go to the hospital and spend some time with the sick kids. I really like participating in these kind of activities in  Colombia because the people how me, which makes my involvement more emotional,” Turbay said.

The L.A.-based actress has spent several years cultivating her space on the small screen and said that finally latinos are being portrayed in roles other than working class immigrants.

Turbay said that one her career goals is to make the transition from TV to film.
