Pablo Escobar breaks Colombian TV records

The inaugural episode of Colombian soap opera “Pablo Escobar, The Boss of Evil” has broken all audience records, its network announced Tuesday.

According to the show’s network, Caracol Television, the first episode of the fictionalized series of the life of Pablo Escobar, received national ratings of 26.9%, and an average 62.7% of television viewers were watching the show between 9:00 and 10:00pm Monday.

The network added that the number grew to a peak of 79% of viewers during the first hour, “which corresponds to about 11 million viewers.”

The show also generated a substantial amount of internet traffic.

The show’s website had more than 150,000 visitors during the night, and the amount of followers on the show’s official Twitter account grew by 35% to more than 17,000 followers, while the show’s facebook page had more than 9,000 followers.
