Orlando-Bogota flight makes emergency landing in Jamaica

A JetBlue airliner on its way to the Colombian capital Bogota made an emergency landing in Jamaica after equipment indicated possible smoke onboard, officials said Friday.

The A320 Airbus had departed from Orlando, Florida, late Thursday.

The captain chose to divert to the Jamaican capital of Kingston out of an abundance of caution though there was no smell or visible smoke, JetBlue spokesman Mateo Lleras said.

Maintenance crews inspected the plane, which took off from Jamaica three hours later after receiving clearance, he said.
