Once Caldas snatch important point at Monterrey

Once Caldas are a big step closer to the next round in the Copa Libertadores following a 2-2 draw at Mexican side Monterrey late on Wednesday.

The match, which ended after midnight Colombian time, did not need long for its first goal to be scored as Once Caldas’ Dayro Moreno put his team ahead in the very first minute.

The Mexicans then fought back with Osvaldo Martinez netting the equaliser from the penalty spot in the 18th minute and Neri Cardozo made it 2-1 in the first minute after the break.

Once Caldas would secure a point however, as Jaime Castrillon struck home from outside the penalty area in the 66th minute.

Thanks to this draw, Once Caldas remain in first place in Group 2 and although there is a realistic chance of Sao Paulo taking the lead on Thursday, the Colombians maintain their three-points advantage over third-placed Monterrey.
