Colombia to extradite notorious drug lord to US

Following the Wednesday arrival of notorious drug lord Daniel “El Loco” Barrera to Colombia, the process of extraditing the “last of the great capos” to the United States has begun.

Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos thanked Venezuelan authorties for their cooperation in apprehending and deporting Barrera and Jorge Milton Cifuentes via Twitter on Thursday.

Santos added, “Criminals have no hiding place.”

After an arduous extradition process, Venezuela finally handed over the notorious Colombian drug lord along with three others on Wednesday after capturing the drug lord over two months ago.

Barrera is wanted by the United States for drug trafficking but his criminal history reportedly dates back 20 years kidnapping

After his arrest in the Venezuelan town of San Cristobal, authorities reportedly seized goods and property belonging to Barrera worth up to $35 million. Authorities also announced that 11 people have been arrested for associations with the drug capo and 30 more are under investigation.
