New rock festival for Bogota

Bogota will be the host of new rock festival “Festival Centro” later this month.

The festival, which will take place from January 27 to 31, has already announced the attendance of eight international rock bands and a score of local Colombian groups. The international groups include the likes of Telefunka (Mexico), Cienfue (Panama), Chinoy (Chile), and possibly Russia Red (Spain). Local groups to be featured include Ciegossordomudos, Pernett, V For Volume, Pornomotora, Conector, and Jimena Angel.

Journalist and music critic Chucky Garcia is the event’s organizer, and notes that the festival is not intended to be like the “Rock el Parque” event held during the summer, which draws upwards of 200,000 spectators, claiming that “massiveness is not a measure of quality,’ reported events website vive.in.

With only 2,500 tickets available, the event’s organizers hope it will be a small and more intimate occasion.

The tickets will cost only COP10,000 per day.
