New Crisis Center to deal with harsh weather

Colombia’s Ministry of Transport announces the creation of a new Crisis Center to deal with the devastating weather which has hit the Andean nation, reports El Espectador.

The center will operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week and will be run by the Ministry of Transport, the traffic police, the National Roads Institute and the National Institute of Concessions.

The Crisis Center will be housed in the center for strategic information of the national police, on the fifth floor of the Ministry of Transport. It will analyse real-time information on road conditions and weather patterns.

On Tuesday Transport Minister German Cardona will travel to Bello, Antioquia, with President Juan Manuel Santos to the site of a 50,000 cubic meter landslide which destroyed more than 40 houses in Bello and so far is known to have killed 17 people.
