New arrest warrant issued for ‘El Cebollero’

The Prosecutor General issued a new arrest warrant for businessmen
Jesus Rendon Hurto alias ‘El Cebollero’, who is believed to be one of
the leaders of the ‘Office of Envigado’.

‘El Cebollero’ was in police custody until last Thursday charged with conspiracy to commit a crime. He was released the Prosecution neglected to indict the
man in time.

A new warrant has now been issued for his arrest and the Government is offering a 50 million peso reward for information leading to his capture.

‘El Cebollero’, who had his starting selling onions, garlic and potatoes, rose up the ranks to become be a successful distributor and seller of alcohol. He processed 25 million bottles of rum and aguardiente in 2008.

Tthe ‘Office of Envigado’ is reportedly Colombia’s third most powerful drug cartel and formerly the organization of extradited paramilitary

‘El Cebollero’ is implicated in the murder of Gustavo Upegui, a former ‘Office of Envigado’ leader.

Many leaders of the ‘Office of Envigado’, a paramilitary group and drug trafficking organization, have been arrested recently.
