A textile fair for professionals in the fashion industry brings an eco-conscious focus to the fashion scene in Medellin.
The Colombian Institute of Export and Fashion (Inexmoda) is hosting its 23rd annual Colombiatex convention for professionals in all avenues of the fashion world.
“Continuing the work of Inexmoda to investigate global trends, ‘Colombiatex of the Americas 2011’ will look to the future, evoke nature, and convert it into technology,” states Inexmoda’s website.
Colombiatex will bring about 500 international buyers to Medellin and host 420 national and international exhibitors. Inexmoda hopes that the fashion fair will see $112 million in business.
The mission of the convention is not only to showcase textiles and technology, and to be a marketing and communication platform for professionals in various sectors of the fashion industry, but to scrutinize the environmental and social effects of an increasingly globalized textile industry.
Taking into account the increasingly holistic fashion demands of the more informed consumer, Colombiatex will focus on utilizing “biotechnology,” to lower environmental impact, reduce cost and improve quality of textile production and sale, states Inexmoda.
Colombiatex begins Januaruy 25-27 at the Plaza Mayor in Medellin.
