National carrier opens flight routes to US

Colombia national air carrier Aires announced Monday that it will open flight routes to the U.S. from November 25, in a step towards the expansion of its services.

The first flight route will run between Bogota and Fort Lauderdale. Flights on the route’s Boeing 737-700 will be available from November 25.

Colombian Civil Aviation recently approved the Bogota-Fort Lauderdale route, as one of a number of confirmed flights paths, as well as those from Barranquilla, Cartagena, Bucaramanga, Pereira and Cali to Fort Lauderdale.

Aires was also authorized to operate between Bogota and New York City. Flights between the two cities will become available in the next few months, CMI reported Monday.
