Narco-plane stopped by air force

An aircraft being used by narco-traffickers is stopped and seized on Colombia’s Pacific coast by the air force, El Espectador reported Tuesday.

According to the article, the unregistered Piper aircraft was detected by air force when it entered Colombian territory coming from Central America.

The article quotes officials as saying: “The aircraft was suprised violating all national security protocols, and under the pressure of the combat planes was forced to land on the beach in the general area of the municipality of Nuqui in Choco, where it was neutralized.”

The same officials reported that in the place the plane landed a wooden structure was found “with the capacity to harbor eight people, provisions, and fuel for the plane.”

The provisions found were put in the hands of the Judicial Police, and a commission of the Colombian Armed Forces and Control of Civil Aviation was dispatched in the area. No one was captured in the operation.
