More than 250 Colombian soldiers missing in action

250 members of Colombia’s military are missing, an NGO of relatives of members of the armed forces announced Tuesday.

“At this moment the number is in between 250 and 300 (…) soldiers and policemen who disappeared,” Marleny Orjuela, president of Asfamipaz said during a ceremony remembering the 11th anniversary of the kidnapping of soldiers Luis Arturo Arcia and Luis Alfonso Beltrán.

“We don’t know if they are alive, dead or taken hostage,” Orjuela told newspaper El Tiempo.

Orjuela said the association will continue to work “and insist on a humanitarian deal until all are free, until the last hostage and they do not commit this crime again.”
