More displaced people in Colombia after increased fighting

The increase of fighting is comparable to that afterpeace negotiations broke down in 2002.Jorge Rojas, director of the Consultancy for Human Rights and Displacement (CODHES), says in Colombian newspaper El Tiempo that after the death of commanders Reyes and Ríos, the Colombian Army being an offensive against the FARC. At the same time the FARC increased its violence against the civilian population.”It is exactly what we feared,” says Rojas: “The armed conflict intensifies with even more refugees as a result. The FARC does tend to see civilians as informants of the authority”.Monday alone 1200 refugees arrived in towns in Antioquia and Cauca. But the amount of refugees has only grown after that.Despite the attention of both the UNHCR and the International Red Cross,  housing and feeding the displaced is a growing problem.
