More Colombians favor re-election Uribe

64% of the Colombians is in favor of a constitutional change that will allow President Alvaro Uribe to run for a third term in 2010, a poll showed Thursday.

Two month ago, 58% of the population agreed to the constitutional change the coalition hopes to see ratified by the Colombian population in a referendum later this year.

However, the number of people that told pollster Gallup they would take part in the referendum went down two percentage points. 58% of the interviewed said they will take part in the poll if held.

86% of those who say they will take part in the poll told Gallup they will vote in favor of Uribe’s re-election. 13% said they will vote against.

Uribe’s popularity rose too in the past two months. 70% of the Colombians now approve of him.
