Juan Pablo Montoya finishes in sixth place in the historic Daytona 500 race in Florida as the new Nascar season gets underway, El Espectador reported Monday.
The Colombian former Formula 1 star, now 35 years old, started the race at 13th place on the grid and managed to battle his way to a respectable sixth despite two spins.
Bogota-born Montoya was even able to lead the chasing pack at various points throughout the race but eventually succumbed to a surprise victory by 20-year-old Tennessean Trevor Bayne.
