Missing US teenager found in Bogota airport

A 16-year old girl from the United States who ran away from home was found in Bogota’s El Dorado Airport, where Colombian custom agents sent her back to her family.

The New York minor was reported missing after a family quarrel, according to her mother. By then, the teenager had left the U.S. on a commercial flight to Bogota.

The family was alerted by American authorities that the girl was travelling to Colombia, and immediately contacted the U.S. Embassy in Bogota. Colombian authorities identified the minor and sent her back to the United States on the next commercial flight.

According to security and immigration agency DAS, the minor entered the country with all necessary documents, but the family says she travelled without money or authorization.
