Miss Colombia candidates show their English skills

Colombia’s beauty queens excel in innumerous fields to an almost supernatural extent, but the candidates for Miss Colombia 2010 failed miserably in a test to prove their knowledge of the English language.

At an an event to help a school in one of Cartagena’s poorest neighborhoods, El Pozon, candidates were asked to describe images in English in order to win a scholarship to study the language.

The event was not a success. Some candidates invented words, claiming they were English, while others tried to swap the pictures, reports newspaper El Tiempo.

The eventual lucky winners of the scholarship were Misses Choco, Cartagena, Quindio, Valle and Risaralda.
