Millonarios approaches Santa Fe

Cali shook up the first eight of the Copa Mustang by beating number
two, Santa Fe. Millonarios climbed to a preliminary third place by crushing Pasto. Tolima stay one, despite Sunday’s results.

Millonarios, last week number eight in the second leg of Colombia’s highest soccer league, knew to humiliate visiting Pasto by defeating them 4-0. Elinho scored the two first goals for the home side, in the 23rd and 28th minutes.

Striker Milton Rodríguez then netted a third in the 57th minute and winger Jonathan Estrada took care of the fourth and final goal eleven minutes later.

Medellín beat Once Caldas, crawling closer to the first eight who will enter the final part of the Copa Mustang. Martínez and Del Valle gave DIM a comfortable lead, which was then reduced by Fano in the 71st minute. The gap was soon restored by Alvarez, after which Viáfara reacted by scoring for 3-2. Medellín wouldn’t concede another though and take three points from this game.

Santa Fé couldn’t impress at Deportivo Cali, where Batalla scored the only goal of the match in the 37th minute to earn his side a valuable lead.

Tolima, no matter if they win Sunday from visitors Chicó FC, continues to lead the league. If they win, they will extend their advantage to number two, Santa Fe to 4 points.
