Legendary Los Angeles-based heavy metal band Metallica will be performing in Colombia for a second time in 2010, to the delight of fans, news source Terra reported Thursday.
According to Terra, Universal Colombia issued a press release stating “we’re a few days away from confirming Metallica’s South America Tour. But despite not having the complete information, it is already confirmed that Metallica wil perform in Colombia, Peru and Venezuela.”
Metallica will return to Colombia in 2010 as part of its world tour to promote its new album Death Magnetic, which promises to be one of the best shows of the year in Colombia’s concert calendar.
In recent times Colombia has hosted a number of megabands that the country never thought would visit, such as Iron Maiden, Bon Jovi, Jamiroquai, Black Eyed Peas, Elton John, Kiss, which is very encouraging for Colombia.
Rumors of Metallica’s reappearance in Colombia have been bubbling for some time; their last appearance was 10 years ago in Bogota’s Parque Bolivar.
Terra reports that the country’s major companies are vying to see who will have the honor of sponsoring the band for 2010’s tour.
Although Bogota has been plagued by issues regarding concert stages for huge bands such as U2, which may prevent supergroups such as the Rolling Stones and Madonna from visiting, 2010 still promises to be a big year for Colombia, with Coldplay and Franz Ferdinand already confirmed to play.
