Medellin began the working day on Tuesday with the sound of a massive implosion as engineers took down a residential building that had partially collapsed in 2013, killing 12.
At exactly 9AM, engineers detonated explosives that tore down the massive structure within seconds.
The city government was forced to demolish the building after construction failures had caused the collapse of one of the building’s towers in October 2013.
The company responsible for the construction is facing criminal investigations over the collapse that killed twelve workers who were on the site after an emergency evacuation of the residents.
Since then, the city government closed a number of buildings constructed by the company owned by the city’s former mayor.
The company promoted the building only days before the fatal collapse of Tower 5 in the following video.
However, only days later the building looked like this.
