Medellin rapper’s killers sentenced to 18 years prison

A Medellin criminal court has sentenced the two men responsible for the murder of local hip hop artist Daniel Alejandro Sierra to 18 years and four months in prison, the newspaper El Espectador reported Monday.

Juan David Vargas Monsalve and Carlos Santiago Mira Durango were each convicted for the March 26 aggravated homicide of the 18-year-old rapper, as well as for the illegal possession of firearms.

According to the killers, Alejandro Sierra died because he had entered into the territory of their gang, Trece.

Popular Colombian singer Juanes held a march to protest organized crime in late March. According to Juanes, the protest was organized to honor the late Alejandro Sierra.
