Medellin hosts box car races

Medellin hosts the 22nd Annual Box Car Festival on Sunday, September 25, starting at 9AM.

The downhill debauchery will start rolling from Estadero El Silletero in Santa Elena and end at Mascerca de Buenos Aires. The event promises “fun, adrenaline, costumes, and friendship,” as well as plenty of homemade moving objects.

The race course is roughly 9 miles of decline from the mountain town of Santa Elena and vehicles will be speeding around turns and twists in the road, watched over by spectators and supporters.

For those concerned about safety, the event will feature four ambulances on-hand, as well as two emergency motorcycles and two centers for special attention to injuries.
