Medellin airport gets a face lift

Medellin‘s Jose Maria Cordoba international airport has had an extreme make over and now boasts a much broader range of cafes, shops, as well as a new duty free zone.

The once dingy airport has undergone massive renovations and the international shopping area has been converted from 30 square meters into a space of 476 square meters, of which 292 are taken up by the store Duty Free Las Americas.

Products such as lingerie, Colombian licors and coffees are now duty free, as well as the standard airport fare such as books, magazine, newspapers and snacks.

An international money exchange has also been added to the complex, as well as a Smartcom store selling international phone cards and travel insurance.

The majority of the store will open at 6AM local time and will close between 10PM and 12AM.

The airport is located a 45 minute drive outside of Medellin.
