Mario Uribe: There were ‘zero paramilitaries’ in my life

Former Senator Mario Uribe claims that paramilitary leader Salvatore Mancuso is lying when he says the two had ties, and that there were no paramilitaries in Uribe’s life.

Mario Uribe, who is on trial for alleged illegal dealings with the AUC, told the Criminal Chamber of the Supreme Court Wednesday that Mancuso is a “liar” and that there were “zero paramilitaries” in his life, reports newspaper El Tiempo.

Salvatore Mancuso, a former leader of the demobilized paramilitatary organization AUC, testified via video from a U.S. prison that he had met several times with Uribe, reported the newspaper.

Mancuso also testified before the court that his organization supported the 2002 political campaign of Mario Uribe in the Cordoba department.

Mario Uribe is a cousin of popular former President Alvaro Uribe.
