Cartagena authorities release Italian murder suspect

An Italian man suspected of killing a minor was released from police custody on Tuesday after Cartagena authorities failed to indict him.

The parents of the victim have denounced the decision to release the suspect, Caracol TV reported earlier Wednesday.

Lourdes Torres, mother of the victim asked “How is the death of my son going to go unpunished? This is unfair.”

The man accused of the crime is currently being held in a mental institution.

Officials at the hospital declared the man has severe mental problems, physical complications and is in need of constant supervision. The man also faces charges of sexually abusing minors and drug trafficking.
