Lynch mob attacks ‘witch’ in south Colombia

An angry mob in southern Colombia embarked on a witch-hunt, attempting to lynch a suspected sorceress and burning her house to the ground.

The attack occurred in Puerto Tejada, in the Valle del Cauca department, after five women began to inexplicably scream, writhe around and crawl on the ground like animals. Locals suspected that the women were bewitched while visiting a tarot card reader.

The authorities and a local priest tried to diffuse the situation with soothing words and prayers but to no avail. The priest commented that accessing the spiritual realm should not be undertaken by amateurs.

The angry mob descended on the unfortunate tarot reader’s house, which they burned to the ground after discovering a Ouija board used to contact spirits and ghosts.

The suspected witch escaped from town under heavy police escort, with incensed residents chasing her down the road.
