‘Oficina de Envigado’ heads moved to maximum security prisons

Three leaders of the drug cartel “Oficina de Envigado” criminal group, along with 14 other inmates, were transferred to various prisons around the country, Colombian media reported Tuesday.

Alirio de Jesus Rendon Herrera, alias “El Cebollero,” Daniel Alejandro Serna, alias “Kener,” and Jose Leonardo Muñoz Martinez, alias “Douglas,” were transported from the Itagui prison to other penitentiaries, including Palmira in Valle del Cauca and La Picota in Bogota.

The Director General of INPEC, Colombia’s national prison authority, announced that the transfers were made to ensure that dangerous criminals are correctly placed in prisons with strong enough security systems to match the high profiles of the inmates.

He also said INPEC will take drastic measures with prison officials who allow inmates to stay in prisons in which they do not belong.
