Lead prosecutor in Bogota corruption case dismissed

The head prosecutor in the corruption case against Bogota officials, Luis Alfonso Triana, was dismissed Tuesday.

Prosecutor General Viviane Morales decided to dismiss first delegate prosecutor Triana from the corruption case involving Bogota officials and construction company the Nule Group. Reasons for the dismissal are still unknown.

The Prosecutor General’s Office reported that the case has been taken over by the second delegate prosecutor to the Supreme Court, German Pabon Gomez.

Eight officials, including the mayor and county comptroller of Colombia’s capital, have been summoned for questioning in regard to allegations that they accepted payment from the Nule Group in exchange for public works contracts.
