Lawyer for AUC victims assassinated

A lawyer representing the victims of two demobilized blocs of the former paramilitary group the AUC has been assassinated in Medellin, Colombian media reports.

The lawyer, Ricardo Alberto Sierra, was shot on Monday afternoon as he left his house with several members of his family, including his mother and his girlfriend. No one else was harmed.

Sierra had been associated with the Public Defense System for the Judicial Representation of Victims, a program coordinated by the Ombudsman under the Justice and Peace Law (JPL).

He was representing the victims of the “Elmer Cardenas” and “Pacifico” blocs.
