La Equidad are the new leaders in the Copa Mustang. The Bogotá outfit
beat Deportes Quindío 2-1 while Deportes Tolima lost 2-0 at Pereira.
Wilson Carpintero put La Equidad in the lead after 49 minutes of the match versus Quindío, but the away side then levelled in minute 75. However, the points would remain in the capital city as Stalin Motta netted the winning goal with one minute left in regular time.
Envigado moved into second place thanks to a 1-0 win over Cúcuta Deportivo. The only goal came from Dorlan Pabón in the 42nd minute. Cúcuta’s Oscar Caicedo was sent off in the 54th minute and Envigado’s Neider Morantes followed near full time.
Deportes Tolima failed to live up to expectations at Pereira. Diego Arias scored the opening goal in the 38th minute and Mario Giménez made it 2-0 in the 57th. Tolima lost two players due to red cards, with Wilder Medina sent off in the 34th minute and Rodrigo Marangoni in the 87th.
Boyacá Chicó did themselves a big favor beating Once Caldas 1-0 in Tunja. The winning goal came from Anthony Tapia with 13 minutes left to go.
The match between Atlético Huila and Deportivo Cali had the same outcome, but there it took until the 84th minute for the deadlock to be broken. The goal came from Nicolás Ayr. Cali do remain in the top eight but things aren’t quite as comfortable as they used to be.
Real Cartagena may still qualify for the next round following a 2-1 win over Pasto. Hernando Patiños’ opening goal for the hosts in the 29th minute was cancelled out by Leoncio Alegría in the 53rd, but the decider came from Harold Macias in minute 89, 2-1.
Currently, the teams that would qualify for the next round are La Equidad, Envigado, Tolima, Chicó, Junior, Cali, Cúcuta and Quindío. There are three matches left to play in this regular phase.
