Key member of ‘Los Rastrojos’ arrested

Colombian police arrested Monday an alleged key member of the paramilitary group ‘Los Rastrojos’ in the town of Pati, Popayan department.

Medardo Antonio Holguin Garcia, alias ‘Tormenta’, was allegedly the leader of the assassins of ‘Los Rastrojos’. The criminal is also held responsible for purchasing weapons and recruiting minors.

According to the police, ‘Tormenta’ was accompanied by five young men at the time of his capture. He apparently had just recruited the youngsters for the paramilitary group.

Los Rastrojos’ are active mostly in the south west of Colombia.
