According to Colombian newspaper El Tiempo, Nelly ‘Karina’ Ávila Moreno, spoke on the phone with DAS director María del Pilar Hurtado. The DAS chief told her to consider what the future of her son would be like if she continued fighting.Colombian President Álvaro Uribe sent a message publicly to Moreno about two weeks ago, promising that she would be safe if she turned herself in. Bogotá blames Moreno for the 1983 abduction and death of the father of Uribe, who took office in 2002 with a vow to crush the rebels.Karina, who surrendered in a small village in Antioquia, was transfered to Medellín where she is kept in custody in a military compound inside the city.
