Junior, La Equidad advance to semi finals

Junior and La Equidad secured a spot in the semi finals of the Liga Postobon on Sunday while Santa Fe lost at Atletico Huila and had their season come to an end.

Santa Fe defended their third place on the final day of the regular season, but delivered a disappointing performance in Armenia.

Huila took the lead through Ayron Del Valle in the 25th minute and an error from keeper Agustin Julio on a shot from Ormedis Madera doubled the gap ten minutes later. Sante Fe knew no hope was left when Daniel Bocanegra added a third in the 87th minute.

Fourth-placed La Equidad remained in their spot despite a goalless draw at Deportivo Cali, who themselves remained stuck in fifth place at just one point from the top five.

Junior surpassed both Santa Fe and La Equidad thanks to a 2-0 win over Envigado in Barranquilla. Carlos Bacca scored from the penalty spot in the 53rd minute and went on to net a second in the 76th.

As such, Junior and La Equidad join Deportes Tolima and Independiente Medellin in the semi finals of a shorter-than-usual Liga Postobon due to World Cup obligations this June.

Real Cartagena also had a small chance of advancing but lost 2-0 at Cucuta Deportivo.
