Judge who ordered release of ‘El Indio’ set other witnesses free before

The judge who ordered the release of ‘El Indio’, an important witness
in the case against former Medellin district attorney Guillermo
Valencia Cossio, was already under investigation for the release of
other witnesses in the same case.

In total, the judge’s office has nine pending investigations against them. Five of them are directly against judge Luis Eduardo Beltran.

The release of Jhon Manco Torres, a.k.a. ‘El Indio’, the alleged right hand man of drug kingpin ‘Don Mario’ led to a wave of indignation as the jailed suspect of drug related crimes also was one of the key witnesses in the case against Valencia Cossio, brother of Interior and Justice Minister Fabio Valencia Cossio.

The Superior Council immediately started an investigation against the judge after the ruling and Prosecution investigators are investigating the murder of Beltra’s personal assistant.

‘El Indio’ left prison as a free man Tuesday after the surprising annulation of his trial.
