Juan Lozano leaves Cambio Radical to join La U

Former Minister of Environment, Housing and Development, Juan
Lozano, announced to leave coalition party Cambio Radical Tuesday to join Departido de La U.

Lozano wants to join La U to support the re-election of Colombia’s President Alvaro Uribe and to aspire a seat in the Senate, local media reported.

The politician resigned from his ministry in April in order to pursue a career with
political party Cambio Radical in the Senate. He said he remains “Uribe’s man” and that he had the President’s
full support.

However, Lozano clashed with Cambio Radical leader German Vargas Lleras who will run for the presidential election in 2010. Whereas Lozano seeks the re-election of Uribe.

The former Minister is the second politician of Cambio Radical to leave the party and to join La U. Roy Barreras, a fierce Uribe supporter, was sacked from the party in April for his subversive attitude. He later became a member of La U.
