International Middle Eastern Dance Festival heads to Medellin

Undulating torsos and colorful flowing fabrics will be taking over the stage this weekend as the International Middle Eastern Dance festival returns to Medellin between October 18-20.

The festival kicks off Friday night with a performance by world-renowned artists, Tito Seif from Egypt, Natalie Becker from Russia, and Angeles Cayuno from Argentina, at the Pablo Tobon Uribe Theater. The festival continues through the weekend with over 16 hours of Arabic and Middle Eastern dance workshops with teachers from around the world.

The organizer of the festival, Maria Isabel Angel, told Colombia Reports that she is excited for the citizens of Medellin to taste such a rich culture through their proud tradition of song and dance.

“The festival offers a distinct space, a space to learn about a new and exotic culture, far away form the day-to-day. It’s a space to delight in the magical and enchanting world of the Middle East,” said Angel. “We expect a great turnout and we look forward to sharing this passion for Middle Eastern culture with more people every single year.”
