Seven members of an indigenous family were allegedly massacred by unknown perpetrators in Colombia’s northwest Antioquia department on Friday.
Two adults and five children, aged 3-11, were the reported victims of a massacre in the village of El Rayo, located in Taraza municipality, Antioquia. Authorities were alerted to the killings after being contacted by a witness who managed to escape the attack.
The Army’s 7th Division has reportedly been stationed in the area, both to locate the perpetrators and to provide protection to the prosecutor responsible for the investigation.
The news comes just days after nine people were killed in two separate massacres, one of which occurred in Antioquia, while the other took place in the southwestern Valle del Cauca department.
