Indie rock dance punk band YACHT coming to Bogota

The American band YACHT brings its signature hybrid of electronic beats, funky guitars, and multimedia laser show to Bogota on May 14.

YACHT’s latest album, “See Mystery Lights,” received a “Best New Music” designation from Pitchfork.com, arguably the most influential site in underground American rock music right now. Released by New York-based DFA Records, it shares a similar sound with other artists on the label that mix rock and electronic beats, such as LCD Soundsystem and the Juan MacLean.

The Portland, Oregon based-band, whose name stands for Young Americans Challenging High Technology, is becoming known for its energetic live shows, which consist of singer Jona Bechtolt’s seemingly endless supply of hyperactive dance moves and a bizarre Powerpoint slideshow that runs in the background during the performance.

If you still need convincing, check out the band’s live performance here, and read their manifestos on their website.

The concert is located at “Downtown 727,” on Cra. 7 27-46. Tickets are COP50,000 – 60,000, a bargain compared to the higher prices charged for more well-known acts in Bogota. The show starts at 9:00PM.
