Hoteliers worried that power outages are affecting business

Hotel owners on Colombia’s Caribbean town of Capurgana are worried that the lights might go out on business if the town’s power outages continue.

The small town of Capurgana, located in the Gulf of Uraba on the Colombia’s Caribbean coast, is surrounded by miles of beaches and biodiversity and is home to some of the best eco-tourism hotels in Colombia.

Hoteliers are worried that tourists will elect to travel to other places in Colombia because the town of Capurgana does not provide electricity between 1 AM and 9 AM.

Hotel Almar owner Louise Johnson told El Colombiano, “We are concerned that people get discouraged and decide not to visit because it has been said that there is no light.”

According to Capurganatours.net, there are no ATMs in this small town of two thousand friendly inhabitants. But the town does offer a relaxing experience with beautiful views of the crystal blue sea guarded by the lush Darian jungle. Nightclubs, restaurants, ice cream parlors and pharmacies are all available to tourists. Cell phone service is available as well.
