Former Colombian goalkeeper Rene Higuita will likely continue treatment
at home. The long-haired legend is no longer required to stay at the
Medellin hospital to which he was admitted earlier this month.
One of Higuita’s doctors, Hernando Palacio, said that the former footballer was “doing well and overcame the crisis of the head-aches”.
Higuita was admitted to Medellin’s San Vicente de Paul hospital following ‘intense head-aches’ of which the reasons were initially unclear.
The matter didn’t go by without polemics either. Higuita’s daughter, Pamela, told press that her father’s condition was caused by toxoplasmosis, an infection disease that may be the result of improperly cooked meat or contact with cat feces.
However, Higuita’s wife, Magnolia Echeverry downplayed this theory saying that “only Rene, the doctors and I know and are authorized to tell the press.”
