Grenade found near Colombian Prosecutor General’s Office

Colombian police have discovered a fragmentation grenade left in a park close to the Prosecutor General’s Office in Bogota, El Espectador reported Thursday.

Police were tipped off on Wednesday night by a local inhabitant of western Bogota’s Salitre sector, who alerted them to the presence of two men dressed in black who had left a suspicious package in the Obelisco park.

Authorities moved in quickly and conducted a thorough inspection of the park, where they found a fragmentation grenade hidden inside a package and a firearm a few meters away.

Police are now attempting to discover who left the grenade and what the motivation behind the intended attack would be.
