A guarantee judge in Bogota Tuesday charged former Vice President Francisco Santos and former presidential advisor Jose Obdulio Gaviria with libel.
Santos and Obdulio Gaviria are being sued by three trade unions after the officials accused the unions of having links to terrorism. Neither official appeared today in court to hear the charges, nor did they appear in a similar hearing held September 21.
The International Observatory for Lawyers, a body set up to defend lawyers under threat, was present at the hearing today and will watch over the lawsuit.
