“It is more difficult and we must wait,” Kouchner said in an interview with La FM.Kouchner arrived in Colombia Monday to lobby for the FARC-held hostages, including Ingrid Betancourt, a former Colombian presidential candidate who holds both French and Colombian citizenship.In Bogotá, Kouchner met with Colombian President Alvaro Uribe, Foreign Minister Fernando Araujo, and relatives of the hostages held by Colombian rebels.After the first stop, Kouchner will travel to Quito to meet with Ecuadorian President Rafael Correa, and then with Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez, in an attempt to improve the relationship between Quito, Caracas and Bogotá.
