Freed FARC hostage Ocampo Perez reunited with family

Former FARC hostageCarlos Alberto Ocampo Perez, has been reunited with his family in Bogota.

Perez, who was captured on December 27, 2010, was released on Sunday afternoon after the release operation was delayed by bad weather. He was first flown to Ibague in the Tolima department and then on to Bogota.

Perez´s release was a surprise announcement on Saturday. Initially, there had been no mention of his involvement in the week’s liberation efforts.

He was to be the first of three hostages released on Sunday. However, the final two men, Salin Sanmiguel and Guillermo Solorzano, were not retrieved due to the FARC providing incorrect coordinates for the release site according to the government’s delegate, Eduardo Pizarro.
