Four soldiers die in minefield

Four soldiers died and two girls were injured in the north east of Colombia Saturday when an army patrol walked into a minefield.

According to the army, the minefield was laid by the ELN, Colombia’s second largest rebel group, near the village of San Ignacio, Norte de Santander, some 40 miles from the Venezuelan border.

In total, eleven members of the armed forces died Friday and Saturday.

Friday, an attack of ELN guerrillas on a village in the eastern Colombian
department of Boyacá left three policemen dead
. Two guerrillas were killed in the same attack.

Two members of the security forces died in the Meta department when unknown armed men attacked them.

In Valle del Cauca one soldier died and three were injured in hostilities with FARC guerrillas.
