Four die in Córdoba attack

Unknown armed men killed a married couple, a teacher and a farmer and seriously injured a girl near Puerto Libertador, Córdoba, El Tiempo reported Wednesday.

According to the mayor of the town, the incident happened Tuesday night.

An unknown amount of armed men killed the couple and teacher and shot the girl in the face in the village of Nueva Esperanza, two miles from Puerto Libertador.

Minutes later the same group of men killed the farmer, a cousin of a municipality counsiler in an other nearby village, Santa Isabel.

Authorities have no idea who the murderers are and why the victims were their target.

Córdoba has seen a sharp increase of homocides over the past year. Several drug gangs are fighting over the control over the drug trafficking routes in the department.
