Former president of the Senate investigated for parapolitics

The court opened the investigation into the alleged parapolitics against both Toro and senator Duque, after testimonies made by demobilized paramilitaries.Duque was the replacement of senator Álvaro Araújo, after he was charges with parapolitics and corruption.The politicians are the last in a list of nearly seventy lawmakers, currently being suspected of having cherished friendly ties with the United Self-Defense Forces of Colombia (AUC), the now demobilized right wing paramilitary organization, held responsible for tens of thousand crimes against humanity.
